While many positive aspects are associated with aging, such as an increase in wisdom and serenity, many people suffer from the other side of the coin that aging brings with it: the visible signs of aging in the form of wrinkles.

While there aren't many aging processes that we can influence, the desire to look younger has spawned a huge industry. Today, using advanced applications, it is possible to fulfill our longing for a younger appearance. In this context, Botox plays an elementary role.
This is a neurotoxin obtained from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When injected into specific areas in tiny doses, it can block signals between nerves and muscles, causing muscles to relax. Normally, the brain sends electrical signals to the muscles to allow them to contract and move. The electrical message is transmitted to the muscle through a substance called acetylcholine. Botox blocks the release of acetylcholine so the muscle no longer gets the message to contract. This means that the muscle movements that cause wrinkling stop or are greatly reduced after using Botox.

Patients with hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) can also be treated with Botox injections. Botox is injected into areas that sweat profusely, such as the armpits, back of the knees, or palms. The toxin temporarily inhibits the release of acetylcholine, preventing overstimulation of the eccrine sweat glands, which lead to excessive sweating.
Another medicinal use is in the treatment of chronic migraines. The effect of Botox is based on the reduction of muscle tension.

PROCESS

If you want to rejuvenate your appearance, but do not want to look frozen, the Aesthetic Clinic Dr. Katmer will help you achieve the natural look you want. Wrinkle injections with botulinum toxin are ideal for reducing signs of aging such as horizontal forehead wrinkles, sagging corners of the mouth or mimic wrinkles. Before each treatment you can expect intensive advice and information on the costs of the Botox treatment, the procedure and possible risks.

ADVICE

During an appointment at the Aesthetic Clinic Dr. Katmer you will be asked about your medical history, your experiences with aesthetic cosmetic applications and your expectations. Blinking, smiling, and frowning help identify the exact location and depth of your wrinkles.
Having realistic expectations is essential to the desired outcome. Therefore, we may gently dissuade you from Botox if it doesn't suit you. Taking into account your individual requirements and expectations, we may recommend other wrinkle treatment options such as hyaluronic acid injections, laser or microneedling if the wrinkles are still visible even when the face is at rest.

A local anesthetic is not usually required, but you can choose to prep the area with ice packs or a light numbing cream prior to the injection. The inconveniences are usually minimal and brief. Most patients compare the sensation to a pinprick, and the treatment only takes a few minutes.

The aim of the consultation is to discuss the desired results, to explain the process and to point out possible side effects. The top priority here is to explain the various options for the respective requirement with which the best results can be achieved.

Your face will be cleaned and botulinum toxin will be injected into the muscles of your face using a very fine needle.
Depending on the area to be treated, you will need injections in different places. You will be asked to move the muscles in your face to find the best spot for the injections.
The procedure usually takes no more than 30 minutes. You can then immediately go about your usual activities.

After the treatment it is important not to massage or rub your face for three days. In addition, avoid heavy physical exertion, sunbathing and sauna visits for two days.
